Dana Rogers

Dana is a woman of many talents, including musical and literary, and her clients praise her for her problem solving skills and excellent communication. Dana recently talked with OARnet about the early OARnet days, her goals for the new year and her ventures, both professional and personal.

How long have you been with OARnet? It has been 20 years! I moved back to Columbus in 1996 after living in Southern California for 16 years. At that time, OARnet was on the second floor at 2455 North Star and our support center was in the basement.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? Working with various communities, providing superior internet-related services and learning about everchanging technology. When I began with OARnet, internet access was not widely available. My initial duty was to support commercial companies that wanted an internet connection. Years later, I began supporting the government sector. During that time I worked closely with our web development group on the city of Columbus’ new website and redesign. We centralized city services by hosting multiple departments and providing content management services. We also launched the city’s first e-commerce capability by providing the Department of Water an online bill payment system. Currently, I support the higher education and research communities, which paved the way for networking technologies in Ohio.

What’s something about yourself that might surprise people? I’ve been an independent Jafra International Cosmetics consultant for over 25 years. If you are looking for great skin care products, see me.

Do you have any goals for yourself this year? Yes, to take the time to create more music and to start writing short stories under my brand, Stained Glass Ministries.

What accomplishments are you most proud of? Adopting Garry II and Marcus Cooper. My husband had two young children (yes, he had them late in life) when we got married almost 6 years ago.

What do you like to do in your free time? Travel and have dinner with good friends!
