Caleb Zender builds a diverse skill set through Ohio Technology Consortium student employment

Caleb Zender has sought a variety of experiences on his academic and professional journey. A fourth-year student at The Ohio State University, he’s pursuing a degree in engineering physics with a focus on mechanical engineering, alongside a minor in music—a balance of science and creativity that reflects his broad range of interests.

For Ashton South, a computer science and engineering major at The Ohio State University, her role at the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) has provided her with the chance to develop valuable skills and work on significant projects in the field of high performance computing (HPC). 

Ohio Technology Consortium makes an impact at the state and national levels in 2023

The Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH), a division of the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE), is dedicated to advancing education, workforce development, scientific research and innovation for Ohio. Composed of three organizations — OARnet, OhioLINK and the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) — OH-TECH participated in a diverse range of outreach initiatives in 2023 to engage the communities it serves and connect to new audiences. 

Ohio Supercomputer Center’s supportive environment helps student develop professional skills

When Nicholas Johnson was in high school, he kept hearing that he should avoid office jobs because he wouldn't like working 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. behind a desk.

But Johnson decided to try an office position first before writing off the work environment. He applied for a position with the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) and was hired in late 2019. OSC is part of the Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH), a division of the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
