When Nicholas Johnson was in high school, he kept hearing that he should avoid office jobs because he wouldn't like working 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. behind a desk.
But Johnson decided to try an office position first before writing off the work environment. He applied for a position with the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) and was hired in late 2019. OSC is part of the Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH), a division of the Ohio Department of Higher Education.

The Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH) celebrated the major milestones of its member technology infrastructure organizations as they observed notable anniversaries in 2022. OARnet and OhioLINK have been awarded $12.1 and $2.5 million, respectively, from the Ohio Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund through the Ohio Department of Higher Education. The Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet) announced today the promotion of Mark Fullmer to chief technology officer and the appointment of Aaron Wise as his replacement as director of networking, effective immediately.
Reflecting Fullmer and Wise’s expertise and leadership, these changes are key to ensuring OARnet’s long-term success as one of the most advanced statewide network infrastructures in the United States.

OhioLINK, the ALAO (Academic Library Association of Ohio) Scholarly Communications Interest Group, and The University of Akron’s Affordable Learning Initiative group recently co-sponsored the inaugural Affordable Learning Ohio Summit at The University of Akron. The event was designed to help foster information sharing amongst Ohio’s institutions already engaged in, or trying to start, affordable learning initiatives. About 150 librarians, instructional designers, faculty members, and administrators representing more than 40 institutions attended the two-day event.
