New SAT test will eliminate ‘obscure’ vocabulary (Cincinnati.com) – The College Board has announced a number of changes for the SAT that will take effect in 2016. The changes include a focus on more relevant vocabulary words as well as making the writing section optional, returning the test to a 1600 point scale.

 

Ford to Move Pickup Production From Mexico to Ohio Van Plant (Bloomberg News) – Ford has announced that it will be moving production of its commercial grade F-Series from Mexico to its Avon Lake, Ohio facility, which currently makes the Econoline van that is slated to cease production later this year.

 

Ohio's unemployment rate down to 6.9%; state gained more jobs in recent years than initially reported (Cleveland.com) – According to the latest jobs report from the ODJFS, Ohio’s unemployment rate for January fell to 6.9%, down from 7.1% in December. However, this still lags behind the national average of 6.6%.

 

Reserve Bank urges Ohio to allow fast-track foreclosures (Akron Beacon Journal) – The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is encouraging the state to pass House Bill 223 which would help fast track foreclosed homes through the courts, which would help improve property values and reduce court costs.

 

Obama Returns to Education Policy in Break From Ukraine (Bloomberg News) – In a recent talk President Obama emphasized that filling out the FAFSA forms should be a top priority for all high school students and has asked the Education Dept. to help encourage students who have not yet completed their FAFSA to do so.
