Vatican library will digitize its archives and put them online (Reuters) – The Vatican library has begun work with NTT Data, a Japanese tech firm, to scan and digitize a portion of its manuscripts. If the four year project proves successful it is likely the Vatican will move to digitize its entire collection.

 

As Data Proliferate, So Do Data-Related Graduate Programs (The Chronicle of Higher Ed) – As demand for workers with strong analytic skills continues to rise, many universities are creating new programs or reworking old ones to focus on big data. In 2013 alone 16 new business schools registered programs relating to data analytics.

 

Kasich praises Cincinnati community-mentorship program (The Columbus Dispatch) – Gov. Kasich spoke on Wednesday to promote his proposal to use $10 million of casino money to create a match grant program to sponsor mentorship programs in schools. Kasich praised the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative as a program that exemplifies the type of mentorship he wants to make available for every student.

 

White House announces new climate change data website (Chicago Tribune) – The White House has launched a new website that complies all the data from various federal agencies that relates to climate change. With the data made available a number of private and public sector organizations are looking to build tools that will help us understand and deal with climate change.
