Northeast Ohio tech companies, projects receive nearly half of Ohio Third Frontier Commission funds awarded (Crain’s Cleveland Business): Northeast Ohio companies received nearly half of the $84 million that the Ohio Third Frontier Commission awarded on June 11th. The Commission also loaned a total of $12 million to four local funds that finance high-tech startups, with nearly $3 million going to each of the funds.

 

British spy agencies are said to assert power to intercept web traffic (New York Times): In a legal rationale for collecting information from Internet use, the British government has asserted the right to intercept communications through services such as Facebook, Google and Twitter that are based in the United States and other foreign nations, even if they are between people in Britain.
