Nigeria: Girls Get Technology Camp, Attract Intel Support (allAfrica) Intel partnered with the Women’s Technology Empowerment Centere to facilitate a camp which immerses young women interested in communication and information technology in the subject while also providing leadership training.  

Ohio companies garner coveted listings on the 2013 Inc. 5,000 (HiVelocity Media) Inc. Magazine’s top 5,000 fastest growing companies featured 180 Ohio businesses. HiVelocity media highlight the achievements of two of those companies.

Tech industry urged to weigh in on E-Rate overhaul (Politico) The FCC is urging the tech industry to provide input on the E-Rate overhaul which began this past summer. The goal is to involve as many voices as possible so that the new system can accommodate the educational technologies of the future.

UI to build second high-performance computing cluster (The University of Iowa) The success of the University of Iowa’s first high-performance computing cluster, Helium, has led to plans for a second. The addition of the Neon cluster will significantly boost the university’s HPC capacity from 3,700 to 6,132 processor cores.

Workforce Board Starts List Of High Demand Jobs As Tool For Workers, Employers, Higher Education (Ohio Higher Ed) The first list of in-demand jobs was released this week by Governor Kaisch’s Workforce Board. The list is meant to keep institutions of higher education in touch with the needs of employers.
