MIT debuts online Big Data course for tech pros (Network World) – MIT is set to launch an online course on Big Data this spring that is tailored for professionals in the field. The four week course covers a range of issues dealing with big data, and completion will earn the participant certification and access to the MIT alumni network.

 

A Supercomputer Under the Hood: NVIDIA Chips Automate the Car Data Center Knowledge) – NVIDIA will be offering a mobile processor based on their Tegra GPU that is used by many of the world’s most powerful supercomputers. This new chip will make open many doors for autonomous vehicles as well as technology integration.

 

New Algorithm Dramatically Streamlines Max Flow Solutions (Scientific Computing) A new method of solving max flow problems has been developed by a team at MIT. This process will make it possible to map complex networks such as genomes and internet sites with greater efficiency.

 

Bill aims to spark STEM growth (Zanesville Times Recorder) – A new house bill has been proposed that would offer a tax credit to college graduates that earn a degree in a STEM related program and work in Ohio following graduation. The goal is to offer an incentive to students for entering STEM fields of study.

 

JobsOhio Provides $250,000 for Education at Work (Fort Mills Times) – Jobs Ohio has provided a loan to Education at Work, a program that helps college students pay for their education by providing work opportunities as well as tuition assistance.
