Weather Alert: OH-TECH offices open Feb. 1, 2019

OH-TECH offices are open today, Friday, Feb 1. However, snow plows may not yet have cleared all roads along your commute route or from parking lots on campus. Please take your time and drive cautiously. Check with your supervisor if you need to adjust your work schedule.

Weather Alert: OSU campus to reopen

In accordance with Ohio State's decision to reopen campus Thursday morning, all OH-TECH staff members should return to work on Thursday in alignment with their normal schedule. Please contact your supervisor if you have questions.

Weather Alert: OSU campus closed

Due to the OSU decision to close its Columbus campus on Wednesday, Jan. 30, OH-TECH offices are closed as well. Please check with your supervisor regarding essential duties, as essential personnel may be required to work, either on-site or from home. Please keep safe in this dangerously cold weather.

Weather Alert: OSU Classes Canceled
Faculty & Staff to Report as Scheduled

Because significant cold and wind chill conditions are expected on Tuesday, January 28, The Ohio State University Columbus campus will cancel all classes on Tuesday.

Normal university operations will continue during this time to support ongoing learning and research. Campus Area Bus Service will run normal weekday operations.

Faculty and staff should report as scheduled, though departments and units are encouraged to use flexibility in staffing while maintaining needed operations. Contact your supervisor regarding questions of working off-site.

The OETC conference downtown is running as scheduled. If you were slotted for OH-TECH booth duty, you are expected to report to the Convention Center at your prescribed time.

New Alert: Dept. of Education Building

The Department of Education building is closed today, Tuesday, Jan. 7, to all non-essential staff due to the massive water main break in downtown Columbus. Regents staff will update the voicemail message for the main OBR line (614-466-6000), by email and by the OBR website.

The Columbus Campus will again be closed tomorrow, 1/7/14. Work assignments will continue as they were today unless you are notified otherwise. The building at 1224 Kinnear Road will be operational and available for anyone who would elect to work from the office.

Weather Alert: OSU Main Campus To Be Closed

Notice applies to 1224 Kinnear facilities

Per the University’s Emergency Management System, the Columbus Campus will be closed tomorrow, 1/6/14.  Non-essential personnel are not required to report to work unless notified by their supervisors. Work from home may be required for some standby/alternate employees; supervisors will contact you if you’re requested/required to work from home. Essential personnel are free to work from home unless otherwise notified by supervisor.  If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor.

Update: Water Restored at 1224 Kinnear

The building at 1224 has water service restored following the shutdown today (Dec. 27, 2013) by the City of Columbus. With water, power, heat and network restored to the building, staff should report Monday morning as normal.

Update: Power Restored at 1224 Kinnear

The building at 1224 Kinnear is functional again, according to a note from James Rader at 1:35 p.m. today (Dec. 26, 2013). All HVAC now appears to be fully functional, and networking also has been restored. According to Steve Antle, he is working to reboot printers and other devices and expects all to be operational by close of business today.

According to James Rader, the original outage yesterday (Dec. 24, 2013) was caused by a main power feed issue from AEP, affecting numerous buildings along Kinnear Road. When power was restored that evening, a squirrel had shorted out a local line for one of three phases of power, causing the generator to continue running. The generator failed shortly after 7 a.m. this morning, and maintenance/repair crews restored the last of the power shortly after 8:30 a.m.

Reminder: 1224 Kinnear already has a planned shutdown for tomorrow (Dec. 27, 2013) due to City of Columbus scheduled work on water pipes.

No Electric, Water or Network at 1224 Kinnear

There is limited power, no heat and no network at 1224 Kinnear facilities today (Dec. 26, 2013). Also, as a reminder, 1224 Kinnear already has a planned shutdown for tomorrow (Dec. 27, 2013) due to City of Columbus scheduled work on water pipes.

OH-TECH, OSC, OARnet, OhioLINK and other staff scheduled to work at Kinnear Road facilities are advised to work from home today and tomorrow (Dec. 26-27). Please notify any visitors you may have asked to meet with you today or tomorrow at 1224 Kinnear and reschedule for another date.
