ilearnOhio, edWeb.net partner to empower OH teachers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Jul 24, 2013) — 

Ohio educators will have access to free online professional development, education focused social networking resources and a community of more than  55,000 educators across the country, thanks to a partnership between ilearnOhio and edWeb.net announced today.

The comprehensive e-learning platform and award-winning learning network and community have teamed up to deliver the latest tools in social networking, online collaboration and strategic planning to Ohio’s teachers and educators. Thepartnership will allow ilearnOhio participants to engage, network and collaborate with their peers and national education thought leaders, as well as gain access to free professional development resources and training.

“The partnership is a natural fit, combining online learning and social networking to drive innovation and collaboration,” said Nicole Luthy, director of the Ohio Resource Center, home of the ilearnOhio initiative. “Many of the communities found within edWeb that are related to ilearnOhio offer free professional development and maintain archives of their older course offerings.”

ilearnOhio is a comprehensive e-learning platform that  ensures Ohio students and teachers have access to high-quality online courses. edWeb is a free online community for professional educators, offering networking, resource sharing, collaboration and professional development webinars.

This statewide platform includes a searchable repository of standards-aligned educational content (courses and digital resources), an e-commerce marketplace, and a learning management system to facilitate the delivery of course content from multiple providers to various end users. ilearnOhio is administered by the Ohio Resource Center, located at the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University, under the direction of the Ohio Board of Regents.
