Karen Boyd

eTutoring Coordinator

Karen Boyd serves as coordinator of the Ohio eTutoring Collaborative, an initiative of the eStudent Services division of the Ohio Technology Consortium. Since overseeing the 2009 program launch, Boyd has trained and scheduled more than 70 tutors from 40 Ohio public and independent universities. The program today provides online academic support in seven different disciplines for more than 140,000 students.

Earlier, Boyd served first as a campus relations coordinator and later as an adjunct faculty member in Communications at Central Ohio Technical College. Prior to that, she had held a variety positions in journalism and public relations.

Boyd has been awarded an Excellence in Cancer Communication acknowledgment from the American Cancer Society, a Feature Writing honor from the Ohio Society of Hospital Public Relations, a Charles Widney Memorial Scholarship from the American Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and a Top and Outstanding Fund Raiser – Alaska Marathon recognition from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Boyd earned a master’s degree in Geography, History and Political Science from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Capital University.
