John S. Graham

Senior Network Engineer

John S. Graham, Ph.D., serves as a senior engineer for OARnet. Graham is an expert in network routing and Quality of Service issues and is a frequent speaker at professional conferences, including those of Internet2. He earned a doctorate in physical chemistry from the University of Exeter.

After six years as a junior professor at Imperial College in London, he moved into IT and has worked for various employers, including the Computer Science department at University College London (UCL), City of London Corporation and the University of London Computer Centre.

Subsequently Graham joined the JANET(UK) Network Operations Center as an optical engineer specializing in SONET/SDH and PDH networks. Then followed a six-year stint as the Principal Network Engineer on the Internet2 NOC based at IU Bloomington, where he was responsible for the day-to-day technical lead on the Internet2 optical networks (based on Infinera and Ciena equipment) and the international exchange points, including MANLAN in New York.
