H. David Lambert

President and CEO, Internet2

H. David Lambert has more than 30 years of distinguished experience in the advanced research and education networking and information technology fields. Lambert has held a variety of leadership positions at Georgetown University, Cornell University and Indiana University and has served on numerous higher education technology associations and advisory boards. He became president and chief executive officer of Internet2 on July 7, 2010.

Lambert works with the Internet2 Board of Trustees and the Executive Leadership Team to further establish Internet2 as the partner of choice for the U.S. and international research and education community; seeking to enhance research collaboration, network services and infrastructure throughout the world. Under his leadership, Internet2 is building on the organization's membership foundations to establish a unique set of unified capabilities that empower innovation for U.S. and global research and education institutions by leveraging the organization's core principles of innovation, transformation, and community.

Lambert also guides Internet2 and its members to engage global research and education network leaders, to build broader consensus on strategic programs and services in areas critical to Internet2 members and partners. His ability to bring the research and education community and industry together has yielded extraordinary results in a very short period of time.

Prior to joining Internet2, Lambert was the first Vice President for Information Services and Chief Information Officer at Georgetown University, from 1998 to 2010. He was recruited to Georgetown University from Cornell University, where he served as Vice President for Information Technology from 1994 through 1997 and as Director of Network Services from 1989 through 1993. Before joining Cornell in 1989, Lambert held several technical and leadership positions at Indiana University, Bloomington. Lambert has held or holds leadership and advisory positions in numerous higher education technology associations and boards.

His academic background includes a bachelor's degree in Political Science from West Virginia University and doctoral studies in Political Science at Indiana University, Bloomington. He also holds the Professional Manager Certificate from Indiana University's Graduate School of Business.

He and his wife, Carol, live in Bethesda, Md.
